چکیده

Recently we discovered a phenomenon: When filled with many single Lego bricks, a washing machine generates random complexes. This generation process can be viewed as a parallel analog Monte Carlo procedure. It may be used for discovering new Lego structures and for interactive "generative design". This report is preliminary and tentative.

MOCA ARM: Analog Reliability Measurement based on Monte Carlo Analysis

Due to the expected increase of defects in circuits based on deep submicron technologies, reliability has become an important design criterion. Although different approaches have been developed to estimate reliability in digital circuits and some measuring concepts have been separately presented to reveal the quality of analog circuit reliability in the literature, there is a gap to estimate re...

Colloidal nanocrystals as LEGO® bricks for building electronic band structure models.

The synthesis of self-assembled semiconductor nanocrystal (NC) superlattices using oriented attachment recently became a flourishing research topic. This technique already produced remarkable forms of NC superlattices, such as linear chains, mono and multilayer square lattices, and silicene-like honeycomb lattices. In the case of lead chalcogenide semiconductors where NCs are in the form of tru...

LEGO products have become more complex

The LEGO Group has become the largest toy company in the world and they can look back to a proud history of more than 50 years of producing bricks and other toys. Starting with a simple set of basic bricks their range of toys appeared to have increased in complexity over the years. We processed the inventories of most sets from 1955-2015 and our analysis showed that LEGO sets have become bigger...

Search for Spontaneous Muon Emission from Lead Nuclei

We describe a possible search for muonic radioactivity from lead nuclei using the base elements (“bricks” composed by lead and nuclear emulsion sheets) of the long-baseline OPERA neutrino experiment. We present the results of a Monte Carlo simulation concerning the expected event topologies and estimates of the background events. Using few bricks, we could reach a good sensitivity level.

Probing the Probabilistic Effects of Imperfections on the Load Carrying Capacity of Flat Double-Layer Space Structures

Load carrying capacity of flat double-layer space structures majorly depends on the structures' imperfections. Imperfections in initial curvature, length, and residual stress of members are all innately random and can affect the load-bearing capacity of the members and consequently that of the structure. The double-layer space trusses are susceptible to progressive collapse due to sudden buckli...
